After God’s Heart

“The Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people.” I Samuel 13:14

There are great needs in the world, and every little token we can each place in the bucket will go a long way toward reducing the demands. I Samuel 13:14 says the Lord is seeking people who are after His heart—people willing to step out in faith so that God can move them beyond living for self to living Kingdom-minded. Living Kingdom-minded is not just a choice; it's a purposeful way of life. Remember, even the most minor actions can have a significant impact.

At the heart of the Christian faith are people whose lives have been seeds sown into the lives of generations after them. God is love, and as His children, we represent that symbol of His love. How we live speaks a lot about how people view God, and how they view God determines how they respond to the Gospel. We all share this responsibility and commitment, which we must uphold daily.

The After God Heart organization was born from years of a deep desire to live meaningfully for God and the world He graciously blessed us with. It’s in response to God’s call on the lives of the founders, who have navigated the complexity of finding ways to express this call. This desire to serve dates back decades, when one of the founders' Youth Service projects involved donating medicine to mothers in Nigeria; it was always about when, not if, “After God Heart” would happen.

The organization is built on the principle of the ripple effect. When you drop a little stone in a river, it doesn’t just sink in; it makes a ripple, moving beyond its size to affect the water around it. A tiny drop of love in an ocean of hate might not stir the entire river but will make a ripple around it.

David was not called “A man after God’s heart” because of his wealth, strength, or position. Acts 13:22 says, “He made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.” God’s confidence in David rests on the posture of his heart toward God. Someone once said, “If it’s in your heart, God will put it in your hands.” We believe this and trust God to lead the way as we follow. Our willingness commits Him to use us, making our hearts beat after Him more and our lives a symbol of His love.
