In His Presence

Exhortation

When God called Joshua and ordained him as a leader after the death of Moses to lead His people into the promised land, He assured Joshua of His presence so he should not be afraid or discouraged. He told Joshua to be strong and courageous to:

  1. Pursue the mission He has given him

  2. Mediate on and obey His Word.

God told Joshua that the key to all-round, total, and sustainable success and prosperity wherever he went is to meditate on and obey His Word. When Jesus was at Martha’s house, Martha’s sister, Mary, sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to His words. Martha was, however, busy with many ‘good things,’ but they distracted her from listening to the Lord. She became bitter towards the Lord and her sister. When she complained to the Lord, the Lord said to her:

Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things, but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41&42

Jesus, our Lord, showed us a great example while on earth. The Bible says (Mark 1:35) that it was His habit to rise early before daybreak to go to a solitary place to pray (commune with the Father without distraction). He said that He could of Himself do nothing (John 5:30). We have neglected our Source (the True Vine) and we need to return to Him by abiding in Him (John 15:1-5). In Christ is the fullness of life, love, wisdom, power, strength, riches, glory, honor, and might that we need to live a fruitful, God-pleasing, impactful, and victorious life (Rev. 5:12). So let’s not be distracted. Let’s put the first thing first: Prioritizing our daily time with the Lord, our unlimited source. It’s time to stop looking to yourself - your limited strength, wisdom, abilities, and resources. It’s time to exchange your weaknesses and limitations with His unlimited love, strength, wisdom, power, and resources by spending quality time with Him daily in His Word and prayers!
